Copaceni Children’s Centre is located just outside of Bucharest in Romania and operated by our partners, Hospice Casa Sperantei. The centre provides care for children with rare and life-limiting illnesses and was developed in 2018 through grants as well as donations, many through the generosity of Hospices of Hope supporters. However, further development is urgently needed. The next stage of the project is to replace an existing building onsite (which is currently structurally unsound) to create a hospice for children who need intensive palliative care at the end of their life. This will allow their families some respite, as well as providing them with professional, holistic palliative care which is not available in state hospitals. There will be 8 beds in the unit and it will be a welcoming environment with all necessary facilities. We estimate this project to cost 1.44 million euros. We have begun our fundraising, but there is a long way to go.
