One of the most powerful ways we support our partners is through learning and collaboration. We regularly host training sessions that create space to explore topics like pain relief, breaking difficult news, emotional support, caring for caregivers, and managing professional burnout. These sessions are more than just learning opportunities, they are about building confidence, community, and shared purpose.
Whenever possible, we also connect our partners with UK-based hospices, arranging professional visits where they can see different models of care in action. As systems and resources vary from country to country, these visits often spark new ideas, offer practical insights, and help teams imagine what’s possible in their own settings.
Last October, we were thrilled to welcome partners from across our network to the UK for our first in-person gathering of the entire team. It was a joyful, energising week of connection and shared purpose. Many partners described the experience as like “finding a family” – a support network they can now turn to for advice, encouragement, and problem-solving.
We also recently arranged a special learning visit for Dr Oana Nechifor, a dedicated palliative care doctor from Hospice Casa Speranței in Romania, to St Christopher’s Hospice in London. Hosted by one of our trustees, Dr Alison Landon, Dr Oana spent a week immersed in hands-on care.
These moments of learning and exchange strengthen care across our network and remind us all that, by working together, we can achieve more for patients and families facing severe and life limiting illness.
